Lisa Ashcroft, a
member of The Slovenian Loyalites, Lodge #158, was diagnosed with Chronic
Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) in February of 2005. After a years worth of treatment, remission was finally
reached. However this is only
temporary, not a cure. The
only cure for this disease would
be a Bone Marrow Transplant.
Because
Lisa’s siblings are not a match, she
needs to look for an unrelated donor. On
April 12, 2006, the Cleveland Clinic has initiated the formal search for a
bone marrow donor. To date, no
match has been found. In order to
be able to beat this disease, Lisa is in need of a bone marrow transplant.
It is at this point that we are asking for your help. You could save a life! Please consider joining the
National Registry. Initial
screening involves a painless swabbing of the inside of your mouth.
A nominal fee of $25 to
cover testing costs allows you to be part of the National Marrow Donation
Program (NMDP) Registry.
Any expenses surrounding actual bone marrow donation will be paid by
the recipient.
We encourage all SNPJ (Slovenian
National Benefit Society) members, Friends and Family who meet the guidelines, to consider
registering for this National Bone Marrow Drive.
You May Save a Life!
If you do not meet the guidelines, please
consider a donation to this worthy cause.
Please
